Fortune Global 500 (Fun Facts)
Global 500 list announced this week. Top 10 includes 4 US firms (Walmart, Amazon, Apple, and CVS); 4 Chinese firms (3 energy and 1 construction); Saudi Aramco; and Volkswagen. Total revenues of the 500 rose by a record-breaking 19% to $37.8 trillion; and profits were up 88%, which was the biggest jump since 2004. Female CEOs lead 24 of the 500, up from 17 in 2014, the year Fortune started tracking such data.
China Exceeds US
For the first time, revenues from Global 500 companies in Greater China (including Taiwan) exceeded revenues from U.S. companies on the list, accounting for 31% of the total.
